Meet the 2016-17 CEP Staff


 

Amanda Galloway was the first arts specialist for the Center in 2003.  With over 13 years of experience, she now serves as a music and movement specialist, often incorporating her 33 years as a pianist, into her classes. Her enthusiasm, energy and animation capture the hearts and minds of children.

Amanda lives in Fannin County with her husband and two daughters. She also teaches music at Mountain Area Christian Academy and is certified by The Learning Groove.  Outside of the Center, she enjoys cooking and is an avid gardener. 
 


       

Connie Chancey has served the Center as both storyteller and music arts specialist for over 10 years. She currently brings stories to life at more than a dozen of our schools. Her voices, rhythms, and local flair are part of what makes the children so engaged when Connie visits their classrooms.

Connie lives in Blue Ridge with her husband.  They have four children and four grandchildren. When she isn't spreading the love of song and story to little minds, she enjoys photography, home decorating and time with her church family. 
 

 

Dr. Ashley Carr is beginning her first year at the Center as a story arts specialist. Her experience and excitement for education will awaken the imaginations of the each classroom she visits. 

Dr. Carr holds a B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, and a M.S. from the University of Denver.  Her path as an educator has taken her into traditional and non-traditional classrooms in Taiwan, Colorado, New York, South Africa, Cambodia, Kenya and Belize.  Dr. Carr is a full time educator in the Teacher Preparation Program at Young Harris College.



 

          

Angie Davis joined the Center this year as a music arts specialist.  Her involvement in primary education spans 8 years with a degree in .  Her love of music spills over to the children as she incorporates songs with learning and helps children develop a life-long love of reading.

Angie resides in Murphy, N.C. with her husband of 22 years and three children. Spending time outdoors playing basketball softball, hunting or fishing with her family is what brings her happiness.
 

      

Sharon has had more than 700 magazine articles published, written a novel, had her own syndicated radio program, and is often the keynote speaker for church and civic conferences and seminars. Her love of words began at a very young age. When Sharon started to school, she made it her goal to read every book in the school library, and she did! It is her joy to pass on her lifelong delight in words, books, and stories.
 
Sharon and her husband, Don, moved from Florida and now live in Mineral Bluff. They were college sweethearts and have been married for 48 years and have 2 grown children.
 

Candice Stanley became a music arts specialist this year, but has 13 years experience in child care.  Her piano talent and gifted voice will bring children's ears and hearts much joy.

Candice lives in Andrews, N.C. She is completing her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and, when not studying, can be found tending to her garden and watching football.  She loves to sing and does so as much as possible.
